Birth

” the emergence of a baby or other young from the body of its mother; the start of life as a physically separate being “

Every birth in it’s own wonderful set of circumstances is an amazing miracle. Some births are joyous are stressful, and some are hard. Within each of those parameters there is a need for support and encouragement. The Mom can find this through her birth support and faith. Being a Doula has led beside women to support them, encourage them, and even push them towards being empowered and achieving their own outcome from their birth.

The birth I am posting below came with a set of circumstances that were and still are scary. This family has a long road, an uncertain road ahead of them. I am honored to be chosen to walk through this with them and to provide these memories they will cherish.

Before Lochlan was born he was diagnosed to have Hydrocephalus  and a heart aneurysm. It was scary to think he may need surgery so soon or may not make it through the birth at all. His mom, Maddie is so strong! Never once did she get negative. I  shared my faith with her that I was certain God has plans for her son.

We arrived to be prepped for the OR. All the paperwork, signatures, gowns, and SO many people. This little guy arrived with what looked like a perfect head! He wasn’t as vigorous as the peds team would have liked so after a quick visit with his Mom, off to the NICU he went. The NICU team was wonderful. They had him stable and resting in what seemed like no time at all. He is perfect! But a couple of days and tests later, we were told his actual diagnosis. Hydranancephaly.  Lochlan was born with just his brain stem. While his diagnosis gives fear his Mom is making sure that every day is a Lochlan day. I am so honored to have been a small part of his story and to be able to be a part of their story if and when she needs me again.

please join FPStudios in praying earnestly for this Mom and son.
