When we think of a cake smash we always think of a baby turning one. But not this session. This session has been in the works for nearly a year and I could not be more excited to shoot, share, and frame these images.
My Gram, she is the most amazing woman I know. If I can be even half of the woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend that she is I will have accomplished great things. I remember her dearly from an early age babysitting all of us grands and other children too, homemade meals, homemade chocolate suckers we got to make ourselves (!!!), a kitchen island lined with barstools and stocked with coloring books and crayons of every color. I see photos of all of the hand sewn dresses, knitted slippers, and numerous patches on my hand stitched carebears. I can still hear that sewing machine hum and smell her house.
Gram has surprised us several times in the last few years. Surprises that are dear to us but for reasons that we almost lost her twice. From an infection so great she slept for what seemed like months and all of our family came expected to have to plan a funeral; to an insane car accident caused by a drunk driver that landed her and two other family members in the hospital and medical care for months. Each time she bounces back stronger than before the incidents. It is truly a God given health that just keeps going!
October 29th, 2017 we celebrated 92 years of life for this special woman. In those 92 years she has had 1 husband, 6 children, 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She has breathed life for 48,355,200 minutes!
Happy Birthday to you Gram! You deserve every minute of every celebration!
